This week on Wednesday, September 23 at 12pm, the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is hosting a special P2 Lunch & Learn webinar: Oil and Water Separators.
The P2 Program (Pollution Prevention) focuses on helping small businesses and manufacturers reduce or eliminate pollution at the source by establishing current best management practices for using water, energy, air, raw materials, and other resources efficiently.
In this 30 minute webinar, P2 staff will discuss oil and water separators (OWS) which are used across a variety of industries such as manufacturing, automotive, or tank truck wash and heavy equipment washdown areas. OWS rely on gravity and the natural differences in the densities of oil and water to filter out oil and debris contamination. Because OWS contain oil as well as other potential contaminants, it is critical to keep OWS systems clean and leak-free. Preventive maintenance remains one of the most effective strategies for keeping these substances out of our buildings and groundwater.
The webinar will highlight best management practices for maintaining these systems. Attendees will have access to a short video, information sheet and a companion checklist that goes with this P2 module.
