Have you ever wondered what your drinking water provider is required to monitor and report to the state of Indiana? The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) recently released a new web application, the Drinking Water Viewer, which provides information about public water systems including sample results, contact information, and sample schedules.
The application, headed by IDEM’s Drinking Water Branch, was created as a part of implementation of the requirements of the federal Safe Drinking Water Act which is designed to ensure that public water supplies deliver water that is safe to drink. (This application replaces the previous Drinking Water Watch application).
The Drinking Water Viewer includes all types of public water systems, from small restaurants and office buildings with their own wells to large utilities providing water to entire cities. You can find the latest samples taken, any violations, and investigate specific sampling points.
