It’s not too late to join water professionals from around the state at the Annual Indiana Water Summit on August 10 & 11, 2023 to examine the complex interests and issues that face our water supply.
Each year participants plus national and local speakers gather to lay the framework for state and regional-level water planning. Topics align with water challenges facing different sectors and follow strategies outlined in the Indiana Water Roadmap. This is a great opportunity to make your voice heard and be a part of planning for Indiana’s water future.
The 2 days of the summit include sessions on best practices, case studies, lessons learned, and interactive discussion panels. This year’s keynote speakers feature Marion Webb of Indy Chamber and Dr. Gabe Filippelli from the IU Environmental Resilience Institute who will focus on the topic of Climate Change and Long-Term Resiliency.
Be sure to check out the panel on August 11 at 1pm for a discussion on acute risks threatening water such as hazardous waste, PFAS, and coal ash. Discussion on water availability is not complete without understanding how to mitigate and prevent groundwater contamination!
This year’s conference is located at the Athenaeum in downtown Indianapolis. Registration is free for public officials and discounts are available for students as well.
What is the Indiana Water Summit?
The Summit is an apolitical and inclusive annual forum developed to examine the complex interests and issues that face Indiana’s water supply. The Summit’s subject matter seeks to remain consistent with and build upon current legislative actions in order to provide a broad planning perspective, weaving together diverse topics that together demonstrate the interdependency of water issues and the science behind the state of the waters.
The Summit is supported by many partners and individuals and organized by the White River Alliance. For more information including previous years’ presentations or becoming a sponsor visit https://thewhiteriveralliance.org/programs/water-summit/.
