On most Saturdays throughout the year, the Indianapolis Department of Public Works (DPW) hosts free ToxDrop events where residents of Marion County can bring electronics and household hazardous wastes (batteries, old paint, used oil and more) to various locations throughout the city.
These events are a great way to ensure products that can contaminate groundwater and be harmful to the environment in general are disposed of properly.
On December 9, 2021 at the City Council Public Works Committee meeting, DPW Director Dan Parker reported on the success of collecting waste at the 2021 events.
This year alone the ToxDrop events served over 14,000 people and collected 778,099 pounds of household hazardous waste and 453,591 pounds of electronics.
