This fall the Marion County Wellfield Education Corporation (MCWEC) presented Rosy Hansell and Pam Thevenow lifetime achievement awards for their work protecting groundwater for over 40 years at the Marion County Public Health Department (MCPHD).
Both women worked with MCWEC and provided key oversight of businesses who were potential contributors to groundwater contamination.
Pam Thevenow, Administrator in the Department of Water Quality & Hazardous Waste Management at the MCPHD, retired this year after a career in service to the health of people in Marion County. She played critical roles at the onset of the Wellfield Protection Ordinance in the 90’s and subsequent revisions.
Rosy Hansell, Environmental Health Specialist in the Department of Water Quality & Hazardous Waste Management at the MCPHD, retired after 46 years with the department. Rosy recently contributed to the 2017 health and zoning codes designed to protection groundwater as well as to the Technically Qualified Person (TQP) program, which focuses on chemical and waste storage and handling in new facilitates or those looking to make improvements to existing facilities in the wellfields.
Pam and Rosy – thank you for all you have done to protect groundwater and citizens of our community!
