If you enjoyed the events along the White River in this year’s A Rising Tide series, head on out to a White River Conversation around Marion and Hamilton counties this fall, sponsored by the White River Alliance.
Historian Jordan Ryan, principal at The History Concierge, Indianapolis, will lead these one-hour informal programs along the river at seven park destinations. Throughout Indiana’s history, the White River has served as a source of drinking water, recreation, wildlife habitat, and greenspace in the community. The conversations will explore how the river either was impacted or sometimes ignored by the surrounding community as it grew over time.
While you are at any of the parks, visit the art canoe created by local artists through a project spearheaded by the White River Alliance to raise awareness about water quality along the river.
