The Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) is now accepting applications for the Community Recycling Grant Program through March 1, 2020.
Although private businesses are not eligible for funding, commercial operations can encourage solid waste management districts, municipalities, schools, and nonprofit organizations in Indiana to apply for funding to help the community increase recycling and waste reduction.
Projects that can be funded under this program include education and promotion of recycling, waste reduction, yard waste management and composting, and household hazardous waste collection and disposal.
Past projects have included starting/expanding recycling programs, new composting and yard waste services, latex paint recycling, food waste education programs, adding signage at recycling locations, expanding tox-drop programs, purchasing equipment to improve material handling, and purchasing recycled playground equipment for students with disabilities.
Grants start at $500 and go up to $100,000 with a 50 percent match of the recipient (of which 25% can be in-kind support).
