Groundwater Assessments for Neighborhoods with Private Wells

June 24, 2020

Calling all private water well operators in Marion County! Did you know that the Marion County Public Health Department conducts groundwater assessments of neighborhoods across Marion County? Neighborhoods on wells are surveyed and private wells are sampled to determine the groundwater quality in that area.

Go to the MCPHD Private Well Program website and click on the neighborhood to view a summary report of the assessment. For further information please contact the department at 317-221-2147.

The MCPHD also has many fact sheets on the Private Well Program page explaining issues such as arsenic, lead and odors in well water and has a list of great resources for learning how to care for your well. One of those resources is the Private Well Class – a free website for you to learn the best methods for maintaining your private well.
