The White River Alliance, in cooperation with White River Canoe Company, is offering six Free Paddle Days to help groups of friends and colleagues enjoy the river at a safe social distance. In lieu of large events like the annual White River Dragon Boat Races, we hope that a day on the water will continue to foster your connection to the river and recharge your commitment to helping us protect it.
Here’s the schedule for the free paddle days:
Free Paddle Days & White River Alliance Annual Meeting – July 17
The Free Paddle Days are kicking off with a paddle on 7/17 that will also include the Alliance’s brief annual meeting at 1:00 pm. A scientist from the Indiana Department of Environmental Management (IDEM) will be there to give a short update about a new study of the river. The first 50 meeting attendees are eligible for a free single kayak rental on this day – departure at 1:30! We simply ask you that you join us for a short 30 min meeting before your paddle and please also consider following our work on social media. Enjoy!
Free Paddle Days – July 26, August 16, & August 30
The first 35 single kayak rentals are on us! Available departures 9am – 2pm on the hour. We simply ask that you consider following our work on social media. Enjoy!
Free Paddle River Clean-Up Days – August 7 & August 21
In cooperation with the cities of Carmel, Fishers, and Noblesville, two of the Free Paddle Days (8/7 and 8/21) are ‘Clean-Up’ themed and will serve as a replacement for the annual Hamilton County White River Clean-Up. The first 85 single kayak and/or canoe rentals are on us! Available departures 9am-12pm on the hour. We simply ask that, if you’re participating in a Free Paddle on one of these two days, you pick up any small trash or debris you encounter during your paddle. The 8/7 paddle will clean up from The Rusty Oar to White River Canoe Company (6 miles). The 8/21 paddle will clean up from White River Canoe Company to 116th Street (10 miles) The boat(s) with the biggest trash haul will be awarded a Visa gift card on these days. Thanks for your stewardship!
