2019 White River Festival

September 11, 2019

The annual White River Festival is just around the corner! There are a lot of great events scheduled for this year’s Festival which runs September 14 – 29.

The White River Festival is a two-week celebration of the White River, its tributaries, and the surrounding 16-county watershed. The Festival was created to raise awareness about the role this natural asset plays in our communities and the importance of water in our daily lives.

From fishing to wildlife to recreation to education the White River Festival has a little bit of everything.

  • Want to get your hands dirty and feet wet? Check out one of the local river cleanups happening in Hamilton County or Delaware County.
  • Interested in wetting a line? Join the staff of the Indiana DNR GoFishIN team for a Fishing Triathlon or as they fish the shorelines of the White River from Muncie to Mounds State Park and then Noblesville to Martinsville.
  • Curious about some of the wildlife in and around the White River? Head to the Indianapolis Zoo to explore some critters or spend a few hours with the Indiana Wildlife Federation to tag some Monarchs.
  • Plus much, much more!

The White River Festival wraps up with Dragon Boat racing. Come out to White River State Park and cheer on community and breast cancer survivor teams as they paddle 46-foot long vessels against the clock and each other. The boat with the fastest time wins!
