Wellfield Protection Ordinance

November 14, 2016

If your business is located within a Wellfield Protection Area, changes to Indianapolis zoning codes and Marion County health ordinances may affect your operations.

The Marion County Public Health Department has provided a draft of the wellfield protection ordinance. This ordinance is in the process of being approved and will likely be officially approved in early 2017 with an effective data in 2018.

These health codes are an important step in insuring Marion County’s wellfields are safe from contamination in order to protect our drinking water.

If you would like assistance in interpreting any section of this document or are having trouble understanding what your business will need to do to comply, please contact us for technical assistance.
