Business Assessments in Riverside and Ford Wellfields

June 16, 2016

This week we got the chance to check out two businesses in the Riverside wellfield and one business in the Ford wellfield. In these short visits, business owners walked us around their site and showed us how their businesses generally operate. We provided suggestions of small changes they could enact in order to better protect groundwater from contamination!

These business assessments are free, voluntary, and confidential. During a typical visit, we help your business identify ways to secure potential sources of groundwater contamination and prevent spills. In addition to protecting our drinking water, an assessment can help maintain the value of your property by addressing potential sources of contamination, avoiding future cleanup costs, and keeping you compliant with city regulations.

If you are interested in an assessment please contact us to schedule a site visit. We hope to visit as many businesses as possible in all of the wellfields this summer.

Remember, protecting groundwater protects your drinking water!

Chemicals should be stored inside secondary containment. Any easy fix for chemicals like these is to store them inside a plastic storage tote or box. This way, if any chemicals leak or drip, they are contained inside the plastic and can’t make it into groundwater.

Free, Confidential Assessments

MCWEC representatives can help your business identify site specific ways to limit potential for groundwater contamination. You may receive free spill containment supplies in return. These assessments are free and intended to ensure businesses are operating in ways protective to groundwater; observations are NOT reported to any regulatory agencies.
